Artificial Lawns Are A Friend To The Environment

Artificial Lawns Are A Friend To The Environment

In recent years, the promise of an immaculate lawn year-round with little or no maintenance involved has helped artificial grass explode in terms of popularity.  The true promise lies in eliminating the damage that maintaining the real thing can do to the environment.  We know what you’re saying; finally, an excuse not to do yard work!  At www.syntheticgrasses.com we’re happy to help, as our residential synthetic grass, commercial turf, and playground turf bring environmental solutions and immaculate, no maintenance lawn areas to virtually any setting.

Most of those stuck outside doing yard work on the weekends are unaware of the potential environmental pitfalls associated with these normal household chores.  Studies have shown for example that gas lawnmowers are relentless polluters of the environment.  In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that one hour with a gas lawnmower is equivalent to a 100 mile car trip.  Further studies have shown that hydrocarbons released into the air when grass is cut can increase smog levels, while grass clippings flushed down storm drains and into rivers can adversely affect ecosystems.  Finally, the average home uses 25 gallons of water per square foot of lawn.  In an era where water shortages are becoming so commonplace that some states are even paying consumers not to use water, such excess is costly in more ways than one.

Artificial grass acts as a solution to all of these issues because you don’t have to cut it or water it, period.  No more gas lawnmowers or electric mowers for that matter, and no more fertilizers, chemicals, or grass clippings to deal with ever again.  And because it doesn’t need to be watered you’ll see the savings in terms of lower water bills come directly back to you.  You don’t have to be in it for yourself to appreciate how switching to artificial grass can benefit not only the environment but also your bottom line.

In environmentalism it is the small acts of individuals that add up and make a difference.  In this case the simple act of replacing your real grass with artificial grass can benefit the environment profoundly.  And that’s not to mention the benefits in it for you; benefits that include weekends free of yard work, lower water bills, and of course a perfect lawn 365 days a year.
